    2021 Year in Review

    January 3, 2022 /

Written: December 31, 2021 My word of the year for 2021 was “grace” and it was definitely the year of grace. A lot of people had a chance to show grace when service levels everywhere were down because of staffing issues. I have been working to get a refund on a purchase that was shipped to my old address for over a month. And while I am not happy, I was surprised at how appreciative one of the workers was when I was kind about it.  We were fortunate not to lose anyone close to us this year, but we know a lot of people who did. There were many…

    Well Kept

    July 17, 2021 /

Written: May 13, 2021 Phew! It’s been a crazy few months since my last blog post. We closed on and moved into our new house. A second move within six months was a bit exhausting, but we are very happy with our new house and feel incredibly blessed to have found one in this seller’s housing market. We moved to a well-kept neighborhood that instantly reminded me of going back in time. Picture women powerwalking in the road like on The Goldbergs. Moving to a neighborhood where people take care of their houses and yards has put into perspective how we takes care of things. Don’t get me wrong, we…

    A Year of Words

    March 16, 2021 /

Written: March 16, 2021 I started my blog almost a year ago, toward the start of the coronavirus pandemic.   It was years in the making in my head, but I never could get motivated to design the website and officially post my writing.   In hindsight, it seems very fitting that I started this blog in a year where we were mostly only able to speak words and could not do much else.  Maybe it wasn’t my laziness that caused the delay, but God’s plan (It’s a nice thought anyway).  I love written word and I love spoken word too.   I use lots of words every day and never seem to…

2021 Word of the Year: Grace

    January 19, 2021 /

Written: January 12, 2021 My 2020 word of the year was faith and it was remarkable how fitting that word was for the year.  We took huge leaps of faith on where we live, where we work, with our finances and with Hannah’s daycare situation.  Being the planner that I am, it was only early summer of 2020 when I thought ‘I wonder what 2021’s word will be.’   And to my surprise, it was almost an instant ‘Grace.’  Then about a month later, I bought a new journal to write in that said Faith on it.   It came with two other journals; one that said “Grace” and one that said…

    2020 Year in Review

    December 31, 2020 /

Written December 30, 2020 When I first thought about this post, I was going to write a little about 2020, then focus on 2021.  Because who isn’t ready for a new year after this one.   I feel like that would be a great disservice to myself and anyone reading this, though.   As much as none of us want to relive 2020, we should all take some time to reflect on this year and what we learned.  I’ll do another post with some optimism for 2021 soon J So first, I’m going to reflect on my memorable events and general thoughts of this year. I started the year working full-time, then…

    Christmas in 2020

    December 23, 2020 /

Written December 22, 2020 Christmas is weird this year.  Huge understatement, I know. I truly believed coronavirus would be either gone or not a big deal by now.  The cases slowed down in the fall and I thought I might be right. But things have gotten worse and it has definitely put a damper on most people’s Christmas spirit.   So I’ll give you a little background on my grinchy feelings and how I am trying to counter them, in hopes that maybe it will help someone reading this. If you have read my previous blogs, you know we moved a couple months.   It was an exhausting and tiring move, especially…

An Hour and a Half Later

    November 12, 2020 /

Written 11/10/2020 Woah.  Where do I begin on what all has taken place since I announced we were moving an hour and a half away?  It has been a whirlwind.  It feels like it’s been many months ago, but it has only been two months. Soon after we announced we were moving, we started looking for places to rent.  This search took a little bit longer than we expected.  We even looked at a couple houses to buy because finding a rental was becoming a daunting task, but buying in the middle of all this chaos was just too much right now. We thankfully found a rental to move into…

    Two Weeks’ Notice: Take Two!

    August 30, 2020 /

Written August 29, 2020 I posted a week ago about the waiting season almost being over on a big decision.  And WOAH.  This week resulted in a lot of doors opening and closing.   First let me give you some back story.   In our last big waiting season a year ago, in 2019, we both were looking for jobs.   We had went back and forth for a while on whether we should move closer to my family, especially with Andy being gone quite a few weekends in the Summer for fishing tournaments.   We decided to apply to jobs near there and jobs near our current home in Columbus.   We heard back…

When the Waiting Season is Almost Over

    August 22, 2020 /

Introduction Written August 22, 2020 I wrote the following post a little over a year ago and never posted it when I started my blog earlier this year.   I am sometimes astounded at how God brings things back around at the right time.  I was going to write a post today about being in a season of waiting again and thought it had almost been exactly a year ago when we were at the end of another season of waiting.   This time is different in some of the details and there could be different changes than last year, but both times were similar in having to have faith and trust…

The New Normal: From someone who has been cautiously exploring the world

    June 8, 2020 /

Written June 6, 2020 Earlier today, I met up with my parents for them to get Hannah for the night.   The last time we met up at this restaurant was before the stay at home order, 13 weeks ago.   I can barely comprehend how much things have changed since then.   In my personal life 3 months ago, Hannah was much smaller and said fewer words and I was working full time in an office.  We had no idea what was coming in a couple weeks.   At that particular time, we were kind of laughing about coronavirus because it seemed to just be the next thing the news was focused on…
